Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim 99 words
A method for augmenting tissue in a mammal, which comprises: providing an aqueous collagen mixture having a concentration of about 10 to about 100 mg/mL collagen; providing an aqueous solution of synthetic hydrophilic polymer having a reactive group capable of forming a covalent bond in situ with an available lysine side chain present in collagen; mixing said collagen mixture and said polymer solution to form a reaction mixture having a polymer concentration of about 0.1 to about 10% polymer having reactive groups; and administering said reaction mixture at a site in need of augmentation before substantial collagen-polymer crosslinking occurs.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 22 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said polymer comprises polyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of about 400 to about 20,000.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 12 words
The method of claim 2 wherein said reactive groups comprise N-hydroxysuccinimide esters.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 15 words
The method of claim 1 wherein said collagen comprises fibrillar atelopeptide collagen or nonfibrillar collagen.
