Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 20
Claim 1
Independent Claim 88 words
An organ perfusion device comprising: a first fluid conduit fluidly connecting a source of a perfusate to a first pump; a second fluid conduit for fluidly connecting the first pump to an organ; a means to regulate the pressure of the perfusate in the second fluid conduit; and a means to regulate the flow rate of the perfusate through the second fluid conduit, which pump has a pump speed that may provide either constant perfusion pressure, or constant flow rate that allows the organ perfusion pressure to vary.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 88 words
An organ perfusion device comprising: a first fluid conduit fluidly connecting a source of a perfusate to a first pump; a second fluid conduit for fluidly connecting the first pump to an organ; a means to regulate the pressure of the perfusate in the second fluid conduit; and a means to regulate the flow rate of the perfusate through the second fluid conduit, which pump has a pump speed that may provide either constant perfusion pressure, or constant flow rate that allows the organ perfusion pressure to vary.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 49 words
The organ perfusion device of claim 1, wherein the means to regulate the pressure of the perfusate comprises an first sensor for measuring the pressure of the perfusate in the second fluid conduit and thereby producing a pressure signal, and a pump speed control mechanism responsive to an input.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 31 words
The organ perfusion device of claim 2, wherein the first sensor further measures the flow rate of the perfusate in the second fluid conduit and thereby produces a flow rate signal.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 32 words
The organ perfusion device of claim 3, wherein the pressure signal and the flow rate signal are monitored by a computer, which computer produces the input to the pump speed control mechanism.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 33 words
The organ perfusion device of claim 1, wherein the means to regulate the flow rate of the perfusate in the second fluid conduit comprises manual control of the speed of the first pump.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 101 words
A device for the simultaneous perfusion of a plurality of individual organs comprising: one or more first pumps equal in number to the number of individual organs being simultaneously perfused; one or more first fluid conduits connecting each pump to a source of a perfusate; and one or more second fluid conduits connecting the arterial system of each individual organ with a single first pump, wherein each first pump is connected to only one organ, wherein each first pump operates at a pump speed variable to regulate the pressure or the flow rate of the perfusate in the second fluid conduit.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 101 words
A device for the simultaneous perfusion of a plurality of individual organs comprising: one or more first pumps equal in number to the number of individual organs being simultaneously perfused; one or more first fluid conduits connecting each pump to a source of a perfusate; and one or more second fluid conduits connecting the arterial system of each individual organ with a single first pump, wherein each first pump is connected to only one organ, wherein each first pump operates at a pump speed variable to regulate the pressure or the flow rate of the perfusate in the second fluid conduit.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 19 words
The device of claim 6, wherein the pump speed of each first pump is independent of another first pump.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 37 words
The device of claim 6, wherein each second fluid conduit further comprises an first sensor which monitors the temperature, pH, pO 2 , pCO 2 , electrolyte concentration, flow rate, or perfusion pressure characteristics of the perfusate.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 16 words
The device of claim 8, wherein the first sensor monitors two or more of said characteristics.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 27 words
The device of claim 6, wherein the source of perfusate further comprises multiple fluid reservoirs, and a means to selectively mix the fluids from the different reservoirs.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 17 words
The device of claim 10, wherein the means to selectively mix the fluids comprises an electronic valve.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 14 words
The device of claim 11, wherein the electronic valve is controlled by a computer.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 13 words
The device of claim 10, further comprising a heat exchanger and an oxygenator.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 16 words
The device of claim 6, wherein the organs are contained within at least one organ chamber.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 31 words
The device of claim 6, further comprising a plurality of third fluid conduits, which third fluid conduits fluidly connect the venous system of each organ to the source of a perfusate.
Claim 18
Dependent Claim 14 words
The device of claim 15, wherein each third fluid conduit has a second pump.
Claim 19
Dependent Claim 33 words
The device of claim 15, wherein each third fluid conduit further comprises a second sensor which monitors the temperature, pH, pO 2 , pCO 2 , or electrolyte concentration characteristics of the perfusate.
Claim 20
Dependent Claim 16 words
The device of claim 17, wherein the second sensor monitors two or more of said characteristics.
