Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim 72 words
Filament material produced by the process involving dry or wet-spinning a mixture comprising a polyester material and an additive selected from the group consisting of non-reactive polyurethane, glycolide, lactide, camphor, benzoic acid-2-hydroxyacetate, hexamethylbenzene, 1,2-cyclohexandione, and other low molecular weight organic compounds having melting temperatures in the range of 40° to 180° C. and which are soluble in trichloromethane, dichloromethane, ethanol and mixtures thereof, and mixtures of the foregoing members of the group.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 72 words
Filament material produced by the process involving dry or wet-spinning a mixture comprising a polyester material and an additive selected from the group consisting of non-reactive polyurethane, glycolide, lactide, camphor, benzoic acid-2-hydroxyacetate, hexamethylbenzene, 1,2-cyclohexandione, and other low molecular weight organic compounds having melting temperatures in the range of 40° to 180° C. and which are soluble in trichloromethane, dichloromethane, ethanol and mixtures thereof, and mixtures of the foregoing members of the group.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 57 words
Filament material produced by a process according to claim 1, characterized in that the filament is prepared by dry-spinning, at room temperature, a solution in which the poly-ester is poly-(L-lactide). PLLA, and/or poly(DL-lactide), PDLLA, in a concentration in the range of 5-70% by weight in the presence of the polyurethane which is a biodegradable polyester urethane material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 113 words
Synthetic surgical filament produced by spinning a mixture comprised of a polyester in predominant amount by weight, the polyester having a viscosity-average molecular weight of at least about 3×10 5 kg/kmol as calculated according to the formula [n]=5.45×10 -4 M y 0 .73, for a viscosity measured at 25° C. in trichloromethane, and an additive in lessor amount by weight, the additive being selected from the group consisting of polyurethanes, glycolide, lactide, camphor, benzoic acid-2-hydroxyacetate, hexamethylbenzene, 1,2-cyclohexandione, and other low molecular weight organic compounds having melting temperatures in the range of 40°-180° C. and which are soluble in trichloromethane, dichloromethane, ethanol and mixtures thereof, and mixtures of the foregoing members of the group.
Claim 5
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 27 words
The filament of claim 3 wherein the polyester is a polylactide and the additive in the mixture ranges in amount from about 1 to 45% by weight.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 11 words
The filament of claim 4 wherein the additive is a polyurethane.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 12 words
The filament of claim 4 wherein the polylactide is poly(L-lactide) or poly(DL-lactide).
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 8 words
Articles formed from the filament of claim 1.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 26 words
The filament of claim 3 having a diameter of about 0.3 to 1×10 -4 m. and having a tensile strength of at least about 0.4 Gpa.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 14 words
The filament of claim 3 resulting from extraction of the additive subsequent to spinning.
