Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 28
Claim 1
Independent Claim 61 words
A process for inhibiting post-surgical adhesion formation in mammals which comprises the topical locally effective administration to the injured tissue surface site of surgical trauma of an effective amount of a composition including as an active ingredient a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, such administration beginning after surgery and continuing for a period of time sufficient to inhibit the formation of post-surgical adhesions.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 61 words
A process for inhibiting post-surgical adhesion formation in mammals which comprises the topical locally effective administration to the injured tissue surface site of surgical trauma of an effective amount of a composition including as an active ingredient a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, such administration beginning after surgery and continuing for a period of time sufficient to inhibit the formation of post-surgical adhesions.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the active ingredient is ibuprofen or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 19 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the active ingredient is suprofen or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 19 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the active ingredient is tolmetin or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said sterile composition includes hyaluronic acid or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or ester thereof.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 13 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said said sterile composition includes a phospholipid.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 12 words

Dependent Claim 21 words
The process of claim 6 wherein the sterile composition comprises an aqueous mixture of a phospholipid, an organic acid, and tolmetin.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 17 words
The process of claim 8 wherein said organic acid is ascorbic acid, lactic acid, or citric acid.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 33 words
The process of claim 1 wherein said non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug is contained in a controlled release carrier that released said drug over said period of time, wherein said carrier is an absorbable polymer.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 25 words
The process of claim 10 wherein said absorbable polymer is a homopolymer or copolymer of lactic acid, glycolic acid, their cyclic dimer esters, or p-dioxanone.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 14 words
The process of claim 11 wherein said polymer is in the form of microcapsules.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 29 words
The process of claim 12 wherein said microcapsules include lecithin in an amount sufficient to enhance the ability of said microcapsules to adhere to the site of surgical trauma.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 18 words
The process of claim 1 wherein the sterile composition comprises an aqueous composition including a surface active agent.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 17 words
The process of claim 14 wherein the aqueous composition comprises an aqueous solution of ethoxylated sorbitan mono-oleate.
