Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 13
Claim 1
Independent Claim 132 words
A hemostatic article prepared by a method comprising modifying one of the group consisting of a collagen substance or collagen-like substance by dissolving the substance in water and modifying the thereby dissolved substance to render the surface charge thereof effectively more positive than prior to modification whereby to provide augmented hemostatic properties thereto and freezing and drying the thereby modified substance in a porous body, said porous body having a normal structural strength and composition which is modified by said modified substance, the modified substance being blood-soluble such that upon subjecting the thereby modified substance in the porous body to blood, the modified substance goes into solution therein; the supporting body being so constructed and arranged that it resumes its normal strength and composition after the modified substance has gone into solution.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 132 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 15 words
The article as claimed in claim 1 wherein the substance is modified by non-covalent modification.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 12 words
The article as claimed in claim 2 wherein the substance is lyophilized.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 18 words
The article as claimed in claim 3 wherein the substance is gelatin which is treated with hydrochloric acid.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 17 words
The article as claimed in claim 3 wherein the substance is gelatin which is treated with ethylenediamine.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 14 words
The article as claimed in claim 3, wherein the porous body is water insoluble.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 15 words
The article as claimed in claim 1 wherein the substance is modified by covalent modification.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 12 words
The article as claimed in claim 7 wherein the substance is lyophilized.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 18 words
The article as claimed in claim 8 wherein the substance is gelatin which treated with NH 4 Cl.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 17 words
The article as claimed in claim 8 wherein the substance is gelatin which is treated with HCl.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 14 words
The article as claimed in claim 5, wherein the porous body is water insoluble.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 14 words
The article as claimed in claim 1 wherein the porous body is water insoluble.
