Bone biopsy apparatus
Abstract
Abstract The invention relates to a bone biopsy apparatus of the type comprising a tube 1, fitted with a cutting end 5 and driven in rotation by a motor, the end of a piercer 12, housed in the said tube 1, projecting beyond the said cutting end 5 when passing through the soft tissues, and being retracted when drilling the bone tissue 14. The apparatus according to the invention is characterised in that the said end of the piercer 12 is formed by a plurality of metal strips 9 with folded ends 10, sliding simultaneously inside the rotary tube 1, between a deployed position, in which the said strips 9 form, by virtue of their folding 10, a tip 12 projecting at the end of the rotary tube 1, and a retracted position, in which the said strips 9 are housed inside the tube 1, and elastically deformed such their originally folded end comes into alignment with the rest of the strip 9. Application to bone biopsies.
