Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 29
Claim 1
Independent Claim 95 words
An osteogenic composition resulting from the process comprising: a) demineralizing bone tissue to provide a demineralized bone matrix from which at least a substantial portion of the original calcium content of the tissue has been removed, said matrix being made up of acid insoluble collagenous residue and non-collagenous proteinaceous matter; b) subjecting the demineralized bone matrix to acid-promoted cleavage of intra-molecular bonds in collagen molecules and inter-molecular bonds between collagen molecules to provide a cleavage product which is acid soluble upon heating; and, c) heating the cleavage product to provide a liquid surface-adherent osteogenic composition.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 12 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1 which is in viscous liquid form.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 19 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1 wherein in step (b), the demineralized bone matrix is converted to a pulp.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 20 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1 wherein the demineralized bone matrix contains not greater than about 10 weight percent calcium.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 20 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 4 wherein the demineralized bone matrix contains not greater than about 1 weight percent calcium.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 20 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 5 wherein the demineralized bone matrix contains not greater than about 0.5 weight percent calcium.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1 wherein heating is carried out at a temperature of from about 30 to about 75°C.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 21 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 7 wherein heating is carried out at a temperature of from about 35 to about 60°C.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 21 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 8 wherein heating is carried out at a temperature of from about 40 to about 55°C.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 23 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1 wherein heating is carried out for a period of from about 5 minutes to about 10 hours.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 10 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1 containing demineralized bone powder.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 80 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1 containing at least one ingredient selected from the group consisting of antiviral agent, antimicrobial agent, antibiotic agent, amino acid, peptide, vitamin, inorganic element, hormone, endocrine tissue, synthesizer, enzyme, polymer-cell scaffolding agent with parenchymal cells, angiogenic drug, polymeric drug carrier, collagen lattice, antigenic agent, cytoskeletal agent, cartilage fragment, living cell, natural extract, tissue transplant, bioadhesive, biologically active component, mesenchymal agent, bone digester, antitumor agent, cellular attractant, cellular attachment agent, immunosuppressant, nucleic acid and penetration enhancer.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 18 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1 adhered to the surface of and/or incorporated within a surgical implant device.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 33 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 13 wherein the surgical implant device is selected from the group consisting of donor bone tissue, an osteoprosthetic device, an orthopedic fracture wrapping and a collagen-coated microspherical filler.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 44 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1, additionally comprising: d) treating the liquid composition produced in step (c) to obtain the osteogenic composition in solid form by adding organic solvent to the liquid composition, whereby the osteogenic composition precipitates out of solution in solid form.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 25 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 15, additionally comprising: titrating the liquid composition produced in step (c), before carrying out step (d), to remove excess acid.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 24 words

Claim 18
Dependent Claim 53 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 17, which is in a form suitable for delivery by percutaneous injection to a fracture delivery site, for direct injection into an osseous defect resulting from periodontal disease (subgingival injection), or as a general injectable for stimulating bone growth to counteract bone loss due to injury or disease.
Claim 19
Dependent Claim 65 words
The osteogenic composition of Claim 1, additionally comprising: d) treating the liquid composition produced in step (c) to obtain the osteogenic composition in solid form, by first titrating the liquid composition produced in step (c) to remove excess acid, then placing the titrated composition in a dialysis bag and then carrying out dialysis, whereby the osteogenic composition remains in the dialysis bag in solid form.
Claim 20
