Abstract

Abstract A coating composite provides desirable corrosion resistance for substrate metals, as well as, enhanced torque control where desired. The undercoat of the composite can be metal in elemental form or can be exemplified by being chromium-containing, either in elemental or non-elemental form. The special topcoat composition, containing copolymer component and silicate substance in liquid medium, is applied directly to the undercoating. In addition to corrosion resistance and torque control, the composite provides the substrate metal with excellent heat, abrasion and solvent resistance. Before use, the special topcoating displays outstanding shelf stability.
