Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim 45 words
A surgical sponge, comprising, a sheet of absorbent material comprising hydroentangled fibers; and an elongated radiopague element in the sheet, said fibers being hydroentangled about the element to retain it in place in the sheet such that the element is embedded inside of the sheet.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 45 words
A surgical sponge, comprising, a sheet of absorbent material comprising hydroentangled fibers; and an elongated radiopague element in the sheet, said fibers being hydroentangled about the element to retain it in place in the sheet such that the element is embedded inside of the sheet.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
A sponge of claim 1 wherein the sheet is folded into a multi-ply configuration.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 10 words
The sponge of claim 1 wherein said fibers are hydrophilic.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 10 words
The sponge of claim 3 wherein said fibers comprise cotton.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 10 words
The sponge of claim 3 wherein said fibers comprise rayon.
Claim 7
Independent Claim 73 words
A method of making a surgical sponge, comprising the steps of: passing a first layer of a mass of fibers; passing a second layer of a mass of fibers adjacent the first layer; placing an elongated radiopague element intermediate the first and second layers; and hydroentangling the fibers of the first and second layers together and about said element to form a sheet of hydroentangled fibers with the element embedded inside the sheet.
Claim 8
Independent Claim 73 words
A method of making a surgical sponge, comprising the steps of: passing a first layer of a mass of fibers; passing a second layer of a mass of fibers adjacent the first layer; placing an elongated radiopague element intermediate the first and second layers; and hydroentangling the fibers of the first and second layers together and about said element to form a sheet of hydroentangled fibers with the element embedded inside the sheet.
