Abstract

Abstract A process for making a lyophilized composition useful for skeletal imaging whereby an aqueous solution containing an ascorbate, gentisate, or reductate stabilizer is contacted with tin metal or an alloy containing tin and, thereafter, lyophilized. Preferably, such compositions also comprise a tissue-specific carrier and a stannous compound. It is particularly preferred to incorporate stannous oxide as a coating on the tin metal.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 59 words
A process, for producing a dry-powder composition, useful for skeletal imaging, comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a solution which comprises a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of gentisate, ascorbate, and reductate compounds, and mixtures thereof; (b) contacting said solution with a metal selected from the group consisting of tin and tin-containing alloys; and (c) lyophilizing said solution.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 59 words
A process, for producing a dry-powder composition, useful for skeletal imaging, comprising the steps of: (a) preparing a solution which comprises a stabilizer selected from the group consisting of gentisate, ascorbate, and reductate compounds, and mixtures thereof; (b) contacting said solution with a metal selected from the group consisting of tin and tin-containing alloys; and (c) lyophilizing said solution.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 14 words
A process, as in claim 1, wherein said solution further comprises a tissue-specific carrier.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 13 words
A process, as in claim 2, wherein said tissue-specific carrier is an organodiphosphonate.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 43 words
A process, as in claim 3, wherein said organodiphosphonate is selected from the group consisting of methane diphosphonic acid, hydroxymethane diphosphonic acid, ethane-1-hydroxy-1,1-diphosphonic acid, methaneamino diphosphonic acid, methane-N-methylamino diphosphonic acid, methane-N,N-dimethylaminodiphosphonic acid, propane-1-hydroxy-3-amino-1,1-diphosphonic acid, ethane-1-hydroxy-2-amino-1,1-diphosphonic acid, and the pharmaceutically-acceptable salts and mixtures thereof.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
A process, as in claim 1, wherein said stabilizer is selected from the group consisting of gentisic acid and pharmaceutically-acceptable salts thereof.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 28 words
A process, as in claim 1, wherein said stabilizer is selected from the group consisting of ascorbic acid, erythorbic acid, and the pharmaceutically-acceptable salts, esters and mixtures thereof.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 14 words
A process, as in claim 1, wherein said solution further comprises a stannous compound.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 30 words
A process, as in claim 7, wherein said stannous compound is selected from the group consisting of stannous chloride, stannous fluoride, stannous tartrate, stannous citrate, stannous oxide and mixtures thereof.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 14 words
A process, as in claim 7, wherein said stannous compound is an organo phosphonate.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 14 words
A process, as in claim 1, wherein said metal is coated with stannous oxide.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 33 words
A process, as in claim 1, wherein said solution is adjusted so as to have a pH in the range from about 1.0 to about 6.0 while in said contact with said metal.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 17 words
A dry-powder composition, useful for skeletal imaging comprising the product of the process recited in claim 1.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 17 words
A dry-powder composition, useful for skeletal imaging comprising the product of the process recited in claim 2.
