Abstract
Abstract A still camera or motion picture camera wherein the means for monitoring the brightness of a portion of or entire scene transmits signals to an automatic focusing mechanism as well as to the exposure controls. The connection between the output or outputs of the monitoring means and the exposure controls includes elements which can transmit signals denoting the peak value, the integral value or the average value of signals denoting the scene brightness.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 4
Claim 1
Independent Claim
99 words
In a photographic apparatus, the combination of exposure control means; focusing means; monitoring means including first and second generating means for generating first and second signals, each including a separate group of photosensitive elements; a split image optical system for directing separate first and second images of a selected portion of a scenen onto said groups of said photosensitive elements, respectively; first adjusting means for simultaneously adjusting said focusing means and said optical system in dependence on said first and second signals; and second adjusting means for adjusting said exposure control means in dependence only on said first signals.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
35 words
The combination of claim 1, wherein said second adjusting means comprises means for transmitting to said exposure control means signals denoting the peak value, the integral value or the average value of said first signals.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
53 words
The combination of claim 2, wherein said monitoring means includes output means arranged to furnish signals denoting the brightness of a portion of a scene; and comprising additional monitoring means having output means arranged to furnish signals denoting the brightness of the entire scene, and signal comparing means connected with said output means.
