Abstract
Abstract A method for binding antithrombotic or anticlotting substances to a susceptible material involving the irradiation of a nitrated aromatic sulfonyl azide contacted with the material, followed by conversion of the nitro group to a diazonium salt and thence coupling of the diazonium salt to a compound which inhibits the clotting or thrombogenic activity of the material. The aromatic sulfonyl nitrene antithrombotic or anticlotting substance intermediate; the intermediate composition of the aromatic sulfonyl nitrene and the material; and the composition of the antithrombotic or anticlotting substance, the aromatic sulfonyl nitrene, and the material are also prepared.
