N-substituted spiro piperidine derivatives

Abstract

Abstract N-Substituted piperidine derivative having the formula WHEREIN R1 represents an alkylene group having 2 or 3 carbon atoms, o-phenylene group or the group of the formula IN WHICH R1 is as defined above and n is an integer of 4 through 6 inclusive. Some groups of the derivatives(I) are prepared by reacting piperidine-spro-cyclic ketal derivatives having the formula D R A W I N G WHEREIN R3 is as defined above and X represents a halogen atom. They are all useful as a stabilizer against deterioration of various synthetic polymers. WHEREIN R8 represents an alkylene group having 2 or 3 carbon atoms, o-phenylene group of the formula IN WHICH N IS AN INTEGER OF 4 THROUGH 6 INCLUSIVE WITH (A) HALIDES HAVING THE FORMULA R4X therein R4 represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group or an aralkyl group, (b) sulfates having the formula (R6)2SO4 wherein R6 represents an alkyl group or (C) ethylene oxide. Another group of the derivatives (I) is prepared by reacting N-hydroxyethypiperidine derivatives having the formula D R A W I N G IN WHICH R3 represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group or an aryl group; and R2 represents an alkylene group having two or three carbon atoms, o-phenylene group or the group of the formula WHEREIN R1 represents an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group, an aralkyl group, Beta -hydroxyethyl group or the group of the formula
