Abstract

Abstract Shock absorbing device having an outer and an inner section supported for relative movement with respect to each other in the direction of a chock force, an intermediate section placed into the space formed by the outer and inner sections and comprising a material having volume-elastic properties, the elastic material is treated with a material having adhesive properties for delaying the return of it into the original position due to its elastic properties after s shock force causing compression of the elastic material has ceased.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 21
Claim 1
Independent Claim 110 words
Shock absorbing device comprising a first and a second section supported for relative movement with respect to each other in the direction of a shock force; an intermediate section placed into the space formed by said first and second sections and comprising a material having volume-elastic properties, said material being treated with a material having adhesive properties for delaying the return into the rest position by said intermediate section material due to the elastic properties thereof after a shock force caused compression of said intermediate section material whereby a dangerously large subsequent acceleration in the direction opposite to the shock force is prevented by said delaying into the rest position.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 110 words
Shock absorbing device comprising a first and a second section supported for relative movement with respect to each other in the direction of a shock force; an intermediate section placed into the space formed by said first and second sections and comprising a material having volume-elastic properties, said material being treated with a material having adhesive properties for delaying the return into the rest position by said intermediate section material due to the elastic properties thereof after a shock force caused compression of said intermediate section material whereby a dangerously large subsequent acceleration in the direction opposite to the shock force is prevented by said delaying into the rest position.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 17 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1 wherein said elastic material is a synthetic foam material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1 wherein said adhesive material is bitumen.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 14 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said adhesive material is wax.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 19 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said first and second sections are formed from rigid material.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 71 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, comprising means for securing said shock absorbing device to an object which is to be protected against a shock force and a bolt means passing through said first and second sections, means forming a journalling arrangement for said bolt means and allowing relative movement of said first and second sections about said journalling arrangement when a force is applied to said first section.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 18 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 6, wherein said journalling means is formed with said second section.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 17 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 7, wherein said bolt means passes through said elastic material.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 73 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 8, wherein said first section forms an outer profile with respect to an object protected against a shock force and has a U-shaped cross-section having an open end facing said object, said second section forming an inner profile with respect to said objEct and being placed in a piston-like arrangement into said outer profile defining a chamber therewith, said elastic material being placed into said chamber.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 15 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 9, wherein said inner profile has a I-cross-section.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 23 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 9, wherein said inner profile has a C-cross-section having its open end facing the object protected.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 31 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 7, wherein said journalling means is formed from the edges of the hole in said second section, said bolt means passing through said hole.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 30 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said second section comprises a part of the object protected and said first section is hingedly coupled to said second section.
Claim 15
Dependent Claim 30 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 6, wherein said securing means is a rigid supporting strap means securing said inner profile to the object to be protected against shock.
Claim 16
Dependent Claim 20 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said device is used as a bumper for a motor vehicle.
Claim 17
Dependent Claim 22 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said device is used as a shock absorbing means inside a motor vehicle.
Claim 18
Dependent Claim 17 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said device is used as a stop block.
Claim 19
Dependent Claim 23 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said intermediate section comprising said volume-elastic material is surrounded by a hermetically sealed enclosure.
Claim 20
Dependent Claim 22 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said first section comprises a plurality of segments along the longitudinal dimensions thereof.
Claim 21
Dependent Claim 14 words
Shock absorbing device as claimed in claim 19, wherein said segments are resiliently interconnected.
