Abstract POROUS BODIES OF INTERCONNECTED CELLULAR STRUCTURE HAVING EXTREMELY HIGH STRENGTH-TO-WEIGHT RATIOS AT ELEVATED TEMPERATURES. THE POROUS BODIES HAVE A FOAM SUBSTRATE OF UNIFORM CELL STRUCTURE, PRODUCED BY THE THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF AN ORGANIC FOAM, AND A REFRACTORY COATING ON THE SUBSTRATE OF A VAPOR-DEPOSITED PYROLYTIC MATERIAL.
