Abstract
Abstract By arranging the optical system so as to perform the comparison of two types of rectangular waves so converted from two kinds of pattern of the object scanned after passing through a movable lens system and a fixed lens system, and to thereby control so as to reduce to nil amount of difference existing between the phases of these two rectangular waves, the distance between the object and the focal plane can be measured with greatly enhanced precision and speed.
