Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE: To obtain easily and economically a porous material, by a method wherein a latex contg. a hydrophobic polymer and a water-soluble or a hydrophilic polymer in an aq. medium is dried and molded, and then the polymer component is dissolved and removed. CONSTITUTION: A hydrophobic polymer and a water-soluble and/or hydrophilic polymer are post-emulsified in an aq. medium. The resulting emulsion latex is dried and molded. The hydrophobic polymer component or the water-soluble and/or hydrophilic polymer component in the molded article is dissolved and removed. When it is desired to produce the porcus material of said hydrophobic polymer from the dried molded article, a solvent capable of dissolving only the water-soluble and/or hydrophilic polymer is used. For example, water alone or an eq. solvent composed of water and a lower alcohol or ester is used to dissolve and remove the water-soluble and/or hydrophilic polymer. When it is desired to produce the porous material of the water-soluble and/or hydrophilic polymer, a solvent capable of dissolving only the hydrophobic polymer is used to dissolve and remove said hydrophobic polymer.
