Abstract

Abstract PURPOSE:To satisfactorily develop the elastic fiber of a blood vessel wall with the removal of pressurized and set or a thrombus while a blocking part is heated by providing an expandable and contractible balloon in a tip part and providing an electrode for high frequency heating in the internal part of this balloon. CONSTITUTION:An expandable and contractible balloon 2 is formed in the tip part of an X-ray impermeable Teflon-made catheter 1. An electrode 3 for high frequency heating to be provided in the central axis direction of the balloon 2 has a cone shape and the electrode is formed with a flexible metallic material to be an X-ray impermeable marker. When the tip part of the catheter 1 is positioned in the spot of a blocking part 16, an induced current flow from a high frequence generator 10 through electrodes 3 and 3A into an organ and the part of the blocking part 16 is locally heated about at 60 deg.C. After that, liquid is sent through an opening part 6 to the balloon 2 and the balloon is expanded. The heated blocking part 16 is smoothly pushed out by the expanded balloon and satisfactorily squashed. Then, blood flow can be secured.
