Improvements in or relating to joint fastenings for scaffolding or skeleton metal frames and like structures
Abstract
Abstract 602,540. Bolting. CRUDEN, H. Oct. 16, 1945, No. 27098. [Class 89 (i)] [Also in Group X] A bolt and nut fastening comprises means for resiliently pressing the nut against the face of the member against which it is to bear when tightened, thus enabling the nut to be adjusted in position and preventing it from slipping when the member 3 is being bolted to a tube. The face of the nut 11 may be roughened to assist in preventing slip. The resilient pressure may be exerted by a bent metal spring 12 fixed at one end to the nut 11 and pressing against a convenient part of the tube. In the application shown the member 3 is a bracket of any suitable form and the other member is a tubular scaffolding frame member slotted longitudinally, the free end of the spring 12 pressing against the wall of the tube opposite the slot. The width of the spring 12 is slightly less than that of the slot, and the nut 11 presses against the inner face of the lips 8 of the slot, through which it is passed by tilting it.
