Abstract
Abstract 548,796. Safety-valves. SHAW, SON & GREENHALGH, Ltd., J., and BROOK, H. Feb. 4, 1942, No. 1441/41. [Class 135] A safety valve of the kind controlled by an auxiliary valve has a relay exhaust valve interposed between the power cylinder operating the main valve and the control valve. In the form shown in the Figure the main valve a is arranged beneath a seat c and is formed integrally with a piston b loosely fitting in a cylinder d arranged in the main inlet el and provided with a drainage hole f. An exhaust passage k connecting the cylinder d with the main outlet e<SP>2</SP> is controlled by a valve j<SP>1</SP> actuated by a piston j<SP>3</SP> against the action of a light spring j<SP>2</SP> under the control of a spring-loaded control valve h subject to the pressure in the main inlet. A hand lever is coupled to a lever and linkage arrangement is adapted to open all three valves in the appropriate order for testing purposes.
