Improvements in and relating to the manufacture of threads, filaments, and the like from viscose
Abstract
Abstract 259,386. Courtaulds, Ltd., Hegan, H. J., and Bayley, F. Oct. 17, 1925. Cellulose xanthates, processes for making filaments from.-For the manufacture of hollow filaments from a viscose in which sodium carbonate has been incorporated, the spinning solution contains not more than 6 per cent of cellulose. In an example, the viscose to be spun contains 6 per cent of cellulose, 5 per cent of caustic soda, and 2.6 per cent of sodium carbonate; the coagulating bath is conveniently that described in Example 2 of Specification 406/11, the lustre and degree of inflation of the filaments depending on the proportion of zinc sulphate contained in the bath and on the age of the viscose. Specifications 8700/92, 20801/00, [both in Class 2, Acids and salts, Organic &c.]; 7748/10, 15752/10, 1436/11, 24291/14, 143,253, and 189,973 also are referred to.
