Support for ancillary vehicle mirror - with clamps and other fittings moulded from metal alloy or plastics materials
Abstract
Abstract Support for an ancillary mirror to be mounted on a vehicle wing, e.g. for use when towing an opaque or wide caravan or trailer, has a stiff, cranked rod to support the mirror at a constant height and reach relative to the centre of the front wheel arch. A lateral bracket can shift along the upright part of the rod to a level which can engage the edge of the top of the wing alongside the bonnet cavity. The root of the bracket can lock on to the stem of the rod at the appropriate level to clamp the root of the stem to the top of the wheel arch. Will fit various vehicle profiles, including those with low bonnet profiles, without requiring any holes to be drilled in the vehicle bodywork. The shoe at the base of the stem, fittings to locate the lateral clamp and accept the mirror stem and the covers for the knuckle and the rear of the mirror are mounted from slight alloy or a synthetic (plastic) material. The lateral bracket is of a deformable rigid plastic material. The main stem is of metal.
