Grip for cable passing into machine housing - comprises spiral of material with provision to twist one end to tighten grip
Abstract
Abstract The cable grip holds a cable at the point where it passes into a metal housing comprises two parts. An outer cylinder (1) fits through a suitable size hole cut in the metal, and has projecting fins (21) holding it in place once it is fitted. Inside this there is a cable gripping element comprising two rings of material joined by one or more spiral elements of the same material. Thus by rotation of one end while the other is kept still, the grip on the cable by the spiral may be tightened. The lower ring has two projecting tabs sliding down into channels inside the outer cylinder to prevent its rotation. The upper ring has flat surfaces so that it may be turned with the aid of a key, and inclined notches which engage in a series of teeth on the cylinder. The upper ring may then be turned to tighten the grip and be held in place by the notches.
