Abstract
Abstract The locking device is for a suture, and comprises a rigid perforated body, through which the stitch is inserted from the upstream to the downstream side, it has protrusions from its face on the downstream side to engage the organ or tissue being sutured. The body has two perforations, accommodating the opposite ends of a stitch, each with a needle. The body can be rectangular, while the protrusions consist of two spikes extending at right angles from the downstream face, or alternatively obliquely to it. The perforations can be inside or outside them. The device is of particular use for joining to sections of ruptured tendon end-to-end.
