Folding plastics spectacle frames - are made from deformable material with elastic memory and supporting interchangeable lenses
Abstract
Abstract A frame for spectacles is constructed in one piece from a readily deformable material with strong properties of elastic memory. The lens mounts distort to support any lens in an interchangeable manner. The side arms of the frame each bear a sucker (1) so that the frames may be folded along the nasal bridge (3) and retained in back to back fashion with the arms wrapped around them and secured by sucker vacuum to the lens glass. The frame (2) may fold so that the lenses (4) lie adjacent to each other. The side arms (5) unwrap and become straight when the spectacles are in use. There are no hinges at the join between the side arms (5) and the frame (2).
