Independent Claim 166 words
A method for manufacturing an indwelling stent comprising the following steps: preparing a substantially circular cylindrical super elastic metal pipe which has an outside diameter suited for the part of the body in which the stent is put, making a plurality of notches or holes in the cylindrical wall of said pipe by removing unnecessary parts in a cylindrical wall wherein said step of making a plurality of notches or holes in the cylindrical wall of said pipe is performed by the following steps: making an unfinished sent of almost the shape of the finished stent by cutting or chemically etching the unnecessary parts of said pipe, next, subjecting the unfinished stent to a chamfering process for removing edges and turrs of said unfinished stent, and then, removing the thermally denaturalized portions in a periphery of said unfinished stent which occur during said step of making an unfinished stent and coating a biocompatible metal to said unfinished stent on which the thermally denaturalized portions were removed.
