A catalyst comprising a carrier having at least one passing through channel with an inside diameter of at least 1 mm, wherein palladium and/or its compounds are contained in an amount calculated as palladium of 1 to 20 g/l and optionally gold and/or its compounds are contained in an amount calculated as gold of 0.1 to 10 g/l, and wherein at least 95% of said palladium, gold and/or their compounds are extended (contained) within 0.5 mm from the surface of said carrier.
