Abstract

Device for treating the inside of the body with radioactive radiation by means of a remote-controlled loading and / or storage station for one or more radiation sources (2), which are moved to the treatment site via a conveying device and an extension hose (1). The device is used, in particular, for endoluminal radiation of a central bronchial carcinoma and, as an applicator, receives the radiation source (2) moved from the remote-controlled loading device; it comprises one or more spreading heads (4, 5, 6) which are arranged in the region of the radiation source (2) and which keep an axial passage free for breathing and which improve the position of the radiation source (optimal centering). The resulting more uniform isodose distribution, adapted to the tracheal or bronchial wall, protects the bronchial wall from steep dose gradients. In this way, complications from too high a dose of radiation can be avoided.
