Abstract
Abstract Treatment of cellular disorders involving abnormal solid cellular growths involves introduction of cytotoxic reagents dispersed in a physiologically acceptable proteinaceous matrix into the solid cellular growth or area of an existing or removed solid cellular growth. Enhanced effectiveness of the drug is observed, with reduced cytotoxic effects on cells distant from the site of introduction. Other drugs may be included to enhance therapeutic gain and reduce adverse effects to normal tissue.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 12
Claim 1
Independent Claim
88 words
A composition for treating a neoplastic lesion or surrounding tissue which comprises: a proteinaceous composition capable of stable placement at the site of the lesion, comprising a sufficient amount of a physiologically acceptable macromolecular proteinaceous matrix material dispersed in an aqueous medium to form a flowable composition including at least one cytotoxic drug uniformly dispersed in said composition; whereby when the composition is placed at the site of the lesion said drug is slowly released into the immediate environment avoiding significant levels of the drug at distant sites.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
16 words
A composition according to claim 1, wherein said macromolecular matrix is at least in part collagen.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
19 words
A composition according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein said macromolecular matrix is at least in part fibrinogen.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim

A composition according to claim 1, claim 2 or .claim 3, wherein said drug is at least one of cis-platinum, adriamycin, 5-fluorouracil, bleomycin, or vincristine.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
29 words
A composition according to any one of the preceding claims, wherein said composition includes a sufficient amount of a vasoconstrictor to constrict capillaries in the vicinity of said lesion.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
42 words
A collagenous composition comprising from 30% to 95% of collagen and/or fibrinogen dispersed in an aqueous medium at a concentration of from about 5 to 75mg/ml and from about 0.1 to 50 weight percent based on said collagen of a cytotoxic drug.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
42 words
A collagenous composition comprising from 30% to 95% of collagen and/or fibrinogen dispersed in an aqueous medium at a concentration of from about 5 to 75mg/ml and from about 0.1 to 50 weight percent based on said collagen of a cytotoxic drug.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim

8 . A composition according to claim 6, having a vasoconstrictive amount of a vasoconstrictive drug.
Claim 11
Independent Claim
30 words
A method of treating a neoplastic lesion or surrounding tissue which comprises introducing a composition as claimed in any one of the preceding claims at the site of the lesion.
