Abstract

Abstract Aromatic amines (anilines) are obtained directly or via the corresponding cycloaliphatic amines by an aminating/hydrogenating reaction of phenols with ammonia and hydrogen over a supported palladium catalyst which also contains elements from group 1b, 2b or 7b of the periodic table as well as iron, cobalt or nickel, as such or in the form of their compounds, and, preferably, an inorganic base, said catalysts also having dehydrogenating properties.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 6
Claim 1
Independent Claim 78 words
A process for the preparation of a cycloaliphatic amine by hydrogenating an aromatic amine in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst, wherein a supported catalyst is used which comprises, as carrier, aluminium oxide or an aluminium oxide-containing compound, palladium and a basic compound and/or an element of group I B, 11 B or VII B, iron, cobalt or nickel, and the hydrogenation is carried out in the presence of ammonia under a pressure of at least 100 bar.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 78 words
A process for the preparation of a cycloaliphatic amine by hydrogenating an aromatic amine in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst, wherein a supported catalyst is used which comprises, as carrier, aluminium oxide or an aluminium oxide-containing compound, palladium and a basic compound and/or an element of group I B, 11 B or VII B, iron, cobalt or nickel, and the hydrogenation is carried out in the presence of ammonia under a pressure of at least 100 bar.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 27 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the catalyst contains, as basic compound, an oxide, hydroxide or carbonate of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 23 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the catalyst contains, as basic compound, an oxide, hydroxide or carbonate of a rare-earth metal.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 14 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the catalyst contains a magnesium compound.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 18 words
A process as claimed in claim 1, wherein the catalyst contains a praseodymium/neodymium compound or a cerium compound.
