Abstract

Abstract The prostesis is for the joint between two bones. It consists of an anchoring part and a joint bearing surface. The anchoring part (1) is secured by means of a fixing screw (3). The fixing screw (3) is a self-tapping type of screw and the crest dia. of its screw thread is such that it cuts into the bone forming the wall of the bone cavity and in its final position its screw thread bites into the hard cortex of the bone. The screw (3) is thus self-centering and also centralises the anchoring part (1). USE/ADVANTAGE - Bone joint prosthesis with self-centering anchoring part.
