Removing thrombosis from blood vessel - involves semi-rigid rod with attached bristles, given reciprocating and rotating motion
Abstract
Abstract A thrombosis (6) is removed by means of an instrument in the form of a semi-rigid rod (3) to which bristles (7,8) are attached so that they project radially from the rod. The blood vessel (1), in which the thrombosis occurs, is punctured at a point near the thrombosis. The instrument is inserted into the blood vessel so that it passes through the thrombosis. The instrument is moved backwards and forwards and at the same time is rotated so that the fibrinous substance forming the thrombosis, adheres to the bristles. The instrument is then withdrawn with the fibrinous substance adhering to the bristles. USE - Removal of thromboses from blood vessels.
