Member that can be introduced and/or implanted in the body, body parts or body cavities
Abstract
Abstract A member that can be introduced and/or implanted in the body, body parts or body cavities and is made of a non-metallic material or a non-metallic surface is to be designed in such a way that infections due to use of such members are reduced or entirely avoided. This is achieved in that the entire surface of this member or these members, or of part-regions of this member or these members which are operatively, but not geometrically, connected is or are provided with a metal coating (6). It is also possible for the material to contain, at least in the region of its outer surface (17), metal particles (18) in powder or granule form of a metal having oligodynamic effects, and for the outermost metal particles (18) to be at least partially uncovered at their surface (Fig. 1 and 5). <IMAGE>
