Abstract
Abstract Blood filter insertable in veins, which can be used for treating patients at risk of an embolism, is foldable and in which part of the filter forms an upstream support surface (2) for the vessel wall in the unfolded state. The filter (1) may have an intrinsic tension which automatically converts the filter from the folded to the unfolded state, or it may be unfolded by a folding rod (4) in its interior. The blood filter (1) can be inserted into a vein and removed therefrom through a catheter or an injection needle. <IMAGE>
