BONE REPLACEMENT, BONE CONNECTOR OR PROSTHESIS ANCHORING COMPOUND BASED ON CALCIUM PHOSPHATE
Abstract
Abstract A bone substitute, bone cpd. or prothesis anchoring compsn. comprises a mixt. of calcined Ca phosphates (I) with soft plastic, bioresistant polymers (IIe or a (II) soln. in organic solvent in a ratio of 5:1-1:1. The compsn. is implanted as a kneadable, plastic mixt. (I) was prepared by tabletting CaHPO4 and CaCO3, sintering for 3 hours at 1200 degrees C, granulating, tabletting and sintering for a further hour at 1500 degrees C. The compsn. (50g) was mixed with the triglyceride of lauric acid (50g) and sterilised and packed ready for use. Natural tissue is able to grow into the compsn. It is mechanically stable and forms a good bond between bone tissue and the implant.
