Appts for moulding a socket with internal peripheral - groove, on the end of a thermoplastic
Abstract
Abstract Apparatus for moulding a socket with internal peripheral groove, on the end of a thermoplastic. G1-. consists of: (a) a composite mandrel the annular lower part being locally fixed and the upper part, to which is fixed a core plunger, passing through the central aperture in the lower part, and being axially displaceable by means of a hydraulic actuator. The external form of the composite mandrel conforms to the required shape of the socket and the upper and lower parts are separated by a gap in the closed position which is then in communication with a feed channel for the introduction of compressed air. (b) A composite blow-mould comprising two pairs of split moulds the upper one being displaceable, preferably hydraulically, both radially and axially and the latter being axially fixed and displaceable only radially. A peripheral groove is formed at the parting line of the upper and lower split moulds, aligned with the peripheral gap in the composite mandrel.
