Claim 1

The claims defining the invention are as follows: 1. A connection between a fence post and a cross-member comprising: a ball having an external diameter; a tube having a free end and a second end, the second end comprising two or more lobes, the lobes deformed about the ball so as to retain it. 2. The connection of claim 1, wherein: the ball is affixed to a base plate, a stem being provided between the ball and the base plate. 3. The connection of claim 2, wherein: a relief portion is formed between adjacent lobes, each relief sized to receive the stem. 4. The connection of any of claims 1-3, wherein: three lobes are provided. A connection between a fence post and a cross-member comprising: 1 oo0 a bracket, the bracket having formed therein a circular countersunk opening; o00- o the countersunk opening having a first portion and a second oo., portion, the second portion being larger in diameter than the first 0 portion, the first portion forming a shoulder with respect to the second aC 0oo a portion; a pivoting member having a base; the base of the pivoting member comprising an enlarged bottom which is received by the second portion of the countersunk opening and which is larger in diameter than the shoulder; B"S the pivoting member further comprising an extension having a S portion which is pivotally attached to the base.
