Intravascular filter with debris entrapment mechanism
Abstract
Abstract Apparatus and method are disclosed for filtering and entrapping debris from the vascular system of a patient. A filter device (5, 105, 205, 305) is disclosed for filtering and entrapping debris from the vascular system of a patient comprising: a filter (10, 110, 210, 310) being sized to allow blood flow therethrough and to restrict passage of debris therethrough. The filter device (5, 105, 205, 305) comprises the filter (10, 110, 210, 310) to capture the debris carried in a first direction of a blood flow and an entrapment mechanism to prevent the debris passage in a second direction opposite to the first direction. A method is disclosed for filtering, entraping and removing debris from the vascular system of a patient.
