Abstract

Abstract This invention is an occlusion device (10) for use in a body lumen such as the left atrial appendage (31). The occlusion device includes an occlusion member (11), and may also include a stabilizing member (12). The stabilizing member inhibits compression of the left atrial appendage, facilitating tissue ingrowth onto the occlusion member. The method of making the device includes forming a plurality of slots in a tube, the slots creating radially outwardly biased longitudinal elements (228). A membrane barrier (15) is then attached to the elements.
