Surgical instrument for atherectomy
Abstract
Abstract A surgical instrument for removing deposits in the walls of arteries and/or veins comprises an at least partly hollow body (30) of approximately circular cross-section which can be introduced into the blood vessels with a traction element (8) which can be retracted from the vessels and cutting section (31) with cutting edges (31') arranged in the direction of traction which remove the deposits. The tangent of the angle between the external tangents to the cutting section and the central axis of the body increases continuously from the cutting sections towards the cutting edges. The tangents to the cutting edges intersect the central axis at an angle greater than 10° and less than 90°.
