Abstract

Abstract A surgical instrument adapted for use in prostate, intra-uterine, kidney, liver, bladder and urinary tract surgery and the like comprising an elongate flexible casing having a delivery tube for delivering a working fluid to the target tissue, and an optical fiber for delivering a coherent beam of electromagnetic radiation to the working fluid whereby to heat the working fluid and in turn thermally treat the target tissue.
