Claim 1
Independent Claim
100 words
A method of making narrow fiberglass fabrics, comprising the steps of: knitting a fiberglass fabric comprising: at least one removable connecting yarn in the warp direction of the fabric, said removable connecting yarn being dissoluble or combustible; and a plurality of fiberglass fabric yarns; winding said connected knit fabric into a wide roll; and then removing said removable connecting yarn from said wide roll to thereby separate said roll into two or more rolls of narrower fiberglass fabric, wherein at least one of said narrow fiberglass fabrics is less than about 50 mm wide after removing said removable connecting yarn.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
39 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein: said removable connecting yarn is combustible; said fiberglass fabric yarn resists combustion; and wherein said removing step comprises heat-setting said fabric at a temperature sufficient to combustibly remove said removable connecting yarn.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
26 words
A method according to claim 2, wherein: said removable connecting yarn comprises fibers selected from the group consisting of synthetic polymer fibers and natural organic fibers.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
54 words
A method according to claim 2, wherein said removable connecting yarn comprises fibers selected from the group consisting of acetate azlon, rayon, triacetate, acrylic, aramid, nylon, poly(1-butene), polyethylene, poly(3-methyl-1-butene), poly(1-pentene), polypropylene, polystyrene, polyester, polytetrafluoroethylene, poly(vinyl alcohol), poly(vinyl chloride), poly(vinylidine chloride), abaca, cotton, flax, hemp, jute, kapok, linen, ramie, sisal, wool, mohair, vicuna, and silk.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
24 words
A method according to claim 2, wherein said removable connecting yarn comprises fibers selected from the group consisting of polyethylene, polypropylene, polyester, and rayon.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
30 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein said removable connecting yarn is knit into said fabric as one or more laid-in stitches, said laidin stitches connecting two or more fabrics.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
31 words
A method according to claim 5, wherein said removable connecting yarn is knit into said fabric as two or more adjacent laid-in stitches, said laid-in stitches connecting two or more fabrics.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
22 words
A method according to claim 2, further comprising the step of: coating said narrow inorganic fabric with a moisture-curable isocyanate-terminated polyurethane prepolymer.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
46 words
A method according to claim 1, wherein: said wide fabric is at least 50 mm wide prior to removal of said removable connecting yarn; and at least one of said narrow inorganic fabrics is less than about 30 mm wide after removing said removable connecting yarn.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
46 words
A method according to claim 2, wherein: said wide fabric is at least 100 mm wide prior to removal of said removable connecting yarn; and at least one of said narrow inorganic fabrics is less than about 50 mm wide after removing said removable connecting yarn.
