Abstract
Abstract Attached to the eccentric studs (25) for supporting and positioning press rollers (20) relative to an inner surface of the die (21) of a pellet mill are levers (30). Linked to the levers (30) is an adjusting means (31) that is provided with a position controller (47) whose position measuring means is constructed as part of the adjusting means (31) for the position of the press rollers (20). In this fashion, the gaps between press rollers (20) and die (21) can be regulated very exactly from the outside.

Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim
182 words
A method for operating a pellet mill having die means and at least one press roller engaging a perforated cylindrical surface thereof, said die means and said press roller being rotated relative to each other by a drive motor during operation of the pellet mill to force a material through said perforated cylindrical surface to form pellets, the method comprising: feeding the material into said pellet mill; driving the motor to effect relative rotation between said die means and said press roller; monitoring the load on the drive motor, while being driven, and generating a signal representative of an actual load; comparing the actual load with a first predetermined nominal load; stopping the feeding of the material under overload condition, when the actual load exceeds said first predetermined nominal load; disengaging said press roller away from said cylindrical surface to a predetermined distance, when said overload condition occurs; and reapproaching said press roller toward said surface, until it engages said cylindrical surface and the distance has become zero, said reapproaching step being interrupted, when the load exceeds a second predetermined nominal load.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
182 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim
18 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said first and second predetermined nominal loads are substantially equal.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
34 words
A method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said press roller is normally engaged with said die means under a predetermined pressure, and wherein said second predetermined nominal load corresponds to said predetermined pressure.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
119 words
In a method for operating a pellet mill for producing pellets from a material supplied thereto, the pellet mill including cylindrical die means and at least one press roller for rolling over a perforated cylindrical surface of said die means, but being disengageable from said surface by displacing means, said die means and said press roller being rotated relative to each other during operation of the pellet mill, thereby producing a certain rate of wear on their surfaces, said wear being a function of the operation time of said pellet mill, the improvement comprising: determining the operation time; and displacing said press roller automatically every time a predetermined operation time has passed by a stroke corresponding to said function.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
119 words

Claim 7
Dependent Claim
21 words
A method as claimed in claim 4, wherein said operation time is determined in units of the amount of pellets produced.
