Abstract

Abstract An apparatus for production of compression-solidified snow comprises a pressure chamber with a rust preventive inner face, a pressure head for applying pressure to snow, a boost-typed pressure cylinder installed at one end of the pressure chamber and equipped with the pressure head, a hopper having an inner face which allows snow to slide thereon smoothly, and a pusher installed in a snow compression zone at the other end of the pressure chamber. A method of compressing snow into solidified snow lump is characterized in that snow having a temperature of 0° to -30° C. is compressed and formed with a pressure of 10 to 200 kg/cm 2 at a head displacement velocity of 0.1 to 150 mm/sec for pressure holding time of 0˜300 seconds into a solid having a density of 0.6 g/cm 3 or more.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 152 words
An apparatus for production of compression solidified snow, comprising: a pressure chamber for forming snow into compression-solidified ice lumps therein; a pressure head for applying pressure to snow in said pressure chamber with a head displacement velocity of 0.1 to 150 mm/sec; a pressure cylinder installed at one end of said pressure chamber, said pressure cylinder being equipped with said pressure head, wherein said pressure is applied at 10 to 200 kg/cm 2 ; a supply means installed on said pressure chamber for supplying said snow into said pressure chamber; and an opening means being openable for discharging compressed ice lumps from said pressure chamber, said opening means being installed in a snow compression zone at the other end opposite to said one end of said pressure chamber, wherein said pressure chamber is provided with water and air vents, said compression solidified snow having a density of 0.6 g/cm 3 or more.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 23 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said supply means comprises a vertical hopper for supplying said snow to said pressure chamber.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 40 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein an inner face of said pressure chamber and a pressure face of said pressure head have properties of readily separating snow therefrom and of sliding snow smoothly, and of preventing from rusting.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 42 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pressure cylinder is boost-typed for alternatively applying a low compression force with a high forwarding speed of said pressure head and a high compression force with a low forwarding speed to the snow.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 22 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said pressure is applied for a pressure holding time of 0 to 300 seconds.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 23 words
An apparatus as claimed in claim 1, wherein said snow supplied to said pressure chamber has a temperature from 0° to -30° C.
