Abstract

Abstract A radiation image recorded in a stimulable phosphor is read out by stimulating the phosphor with a stimulating ray to have the phosphor emit light and detecting the emitted light with a photodetector. A radiation image information thus obtained is read out by a photodetector by way of a light guide member which collects the light emitted by the phosphor and guides the collected light to a photodetector. The light guide member is made of a transparent sheet having smooth surfaces for effecting total reflection. The light guide member has a linear or arcuate end to be located adjacent to a scan line of the stimulable phosphor to receive and guide the light emitted by the phosphor and an annular end to be located adjacent to the light receiving face of the photodetector. The light entering the light guide member through the flat end is guided to the annular end by repeated total reflection.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 183 words
A radiation image informtion read out device for reading out radiation image informtion recorded on a stimulable phospor plate by scanning the stimulable phosphor plate wtih a stimulating ray comprising in combination a photodetector for detecting the light emitted by the stimulable phosphor plate upon stimulation of the stimulable phosphor, and a light guide member provided between the photodetector and the stimulable phospor plate for transmitting the light emitted by the stimulable phosphor plate to the photodetector, said light guide member being made of a light transmitting sheet material one end of which is located adjacent to a scan line on the stimulable phosphor plate and the other of which is located adjacent to the light receiving face of the photodetector and shaped to be adapted to be adjacent to the light receiving face wherein said end to be located adjacent to the scan line is shaped into a linear form and the other to be located adjacent to the light receiving face of the photodetector is shaped into an annular form to be adapted for the light receiving face of the photodetector.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 183 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 37 words
A radiation image information read out device as claimed in claim 1 wherein said light transmitting sheet material is made of a transparent thermoplastic synthetic resin which transmits light of the wavelength of 300 to 500 nm.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 55 words
A device as claimed in claim 2 wherein said light guide member is produced by heating and softening a transparent thermoplastic synthetic resin with one end thereof held in the shape to fit to the scan line, cooling the same with the other end thereof held in an annular shape, and abrading both the ends.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 30 words
A device as claimed in claim 3 wherein said transparent thermoplastic synthetic resin is cooled with the other end thereof engaged with a jig in the form of a ring.
Claim 6
Independent Claim 19 words
A device as claimed in claims 2, 3, or 4 wherein said transparent thermoplastic synthetic resin is acrylic resin.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 47 words
A device as claimed in claim 5 wherein the ratio of a length from said one end to the other of the light guide member to a width of the end to be located adjacent to the scan line is within the range of 0.5 to 1.0.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 27 words
A device as claimed in claim 2 wherein a pair of said light guide members are located oppositely to each other with the scan line position therebetween.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 143 words
A device as claimed in claim 2 wherein a light reflecting means having substantially the same length as that of the end adjacent to the scan line is provided opposite to the light guide member with the scan line positioned between the reflecting means and the light guide member for receiving almost all the light emitted by the stimulable phosphor plate other than the light directly received by the end of the light guide member and reflecting the received light toward the end of the light guide member located adjacent to the scan line, said light reflecting means having a non-linear cross section in a vertical plane and being separated from the light guide member to make a space between the means and the light guide member to allow said stimulating ray to impinge upon the stimulable phosphor plate passing through the space.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 30 words
A device as claimed in claim 8 wherein the nonlinear cross section is in the form of a part of an ellipse having its focal point at the scan line.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 41 words
A device as claimed in claim 8 wherein said light reflecting means is a mirror having at least two reflecting flat faces which are in parallel to the scan line and are inclined at an angle with respect to each other.
Claim 12
Independent Claim 62 words
A device as claimed in claims 8, 9 or 10 wherein said reflecting means is provided with an adjusting means for adjusting the angle of the reflecting means with respect to the light receiving face of the end of the light guide member located adjacent to the scan line and/or the distance between the light reflecting means and the light guide member.
