Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim
89 words
Apparatus for measuring changes in the magnetic susceptibility of selected portions of a living body placed adjacent thereto comprising means providing a supercooled volume, a magnet disposed in said supercooled volume to generate a magnetic field which extends outside of said volume into said selected portions of the adjacent living body, a magnetometer disposed in said supercooled volume and adapted to measure changes in the magnetic field in said volume indicating changes in susceptibility of said adjacent body portions, and means for processing said signals to indicate said changes.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
15 words
Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said means forming said supercooled volume comprises Dewar flasks.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
15 words
Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said magnetometer is a super conducting quantum interference device.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
11 words
Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said magnet is an electromagnet.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
19 words
Apparatus as in claim 1 wherein said magnetometer is a gradient magnetometer positioned rigidly with respect to said magnet.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
21 words
Apparatus as in claim 1 in which said magnetometer includes means for determining the magnitude and direction of the magnetic field.
