Abstract

Abstract Improved electronic scale system for weighing, computing a value and printing a label showing the weight, price per unit weight and the computed value for each of a plurality of successive articles. An integrated circuit microcomputer is periodically supplied with the article weight from a load cell scale and is supplied with the price per unit weight either from a manual keyboard or automatically from a commodity plate in a label printer. After the system corrects for scale error, checks for scale no motion, compensates for any tare weight and checks various interlocks, the microcomputer computes an article value. A no motion signal is generated by the microcomputer when a predetermined number of successive weight measurements deviate from one another by no more than a predetermined small fractional weight less than the least significant weight digit used by the microcomputer in computing an article value. After the above operations are performed, the microcomputer causes a printer to print an article label bearing the corrected weight, the price per unit weight and the computed value.

Claim 1
Independent Claim 118 words
Improved weight measuring apparatus which generates a digital weight output having a predetermined number of significant digital places and including a no-motion detector comprising, in combination, scale means for periodically generating a digital weight signal having the predetermined number of significant digital places and at least one more least significant digital place than the weight output, a computer interconnected with said weight measuring apparatus, said computer comprising means for (1) storing the immediate previous weight signal, for (2) comparing each current weight signal with the stored weight signal, and for (3) generating a no-motion signal when the curent weight signal is within a predetermined number of digits in the least significant digital place of the stored weight signal.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 118 words
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 167 words
An improved motion detector for measuring apparatus which generates a digital weight output having a predetermined number of significant digital places comprising, in combination, programmed control means including a plurality of memory sections, scale means for generating a succession of digital weight signals each having said predetermined number of significant digital places and at least one more least significant digital place, entering means responsive to said control means for storing in said memory sections successive pairs of digital weight signals, each such pair of signals including the two most recent digital weight signals, said control means serving as means for comparing the later stored one of each pair of digital weight signals with the earlier stored one of the same pair of digital weight signals and for generating a no-motion signal each time that the later stored one of a pair of digital weight signals is within a predetermined number of least significant digits of the earlier stored one of the same pair of digital weight signals.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 167 words
