Abstract

Abstract Particulate material is coated onto a solid substrate surface by exposing the surface in a confined volume containing small magnet elements mixed with the particulate material, and establishing within an effective distance of the confined volume, a magnetic field varying in direction with time. The magnetic field is of sufficient intensity to propel the magnet elements and the particulate material at a velocity which causes the mixture to impinge upon the surface and the particulate material to adhere thereto as a layer.
