Abstract
Abstract The local acoustic impedance of materials situated in proximity to a wellbore is determined by the processing of electrical signals transmitted into and reflected from locations in the materials adjacent the location of a sonde in the wellbore. The sonde is provided with transducer which contacts the lining of the wellbore via a sensor or feeler coupling element the acoustic impedance of which is known to aid in the acoustic impedance determination.
