Abstract
Abstract A blood oxygenation device with a heat exchanger that includes a pair of plates disposed against the opposite sides of a flexible blood containing chamber of the device. The plates are relatively movable to selectively vary the volume of the chamber and the blood priming volume of the device. One or both of the plates are used as a heat exchange member to raise or lower the temperature of the blood flowing in the oxygenation device.
